Forklift Winch - A winch is a mechanical device which specializes in winding up or letting out or winding out or pulling in the tension of a wire cable, cable, wire rope or a rope. It its most simple form it is constructed of a spool together with a connected hand crank. More complicated winches are found at the heart of machines like for example tow trucks, elevators and steam shovels. Every now and then the spool could be referred to as the winch drum. Complex designs have gear assemblies which can be powered by hydraulic, electric, pneumatic or internal combustion drives.
